"West Slope Sierra Nevadas" Flying NW - I started flying private aircraft in the mid 1970s and have always enjoyed the virtual freedom of it. I've been up over the Sierra Nevadas on many occasions, many of them taking off early in the morning, getting to altitude and trimming out the aircraft and then listing to the engine drone and enjoying the views. On this particular day we were up high and headed northwest. The bright sun was from the east and glistened off the snow capped mountains. There was a slight haze in the air that almost obscured the horizon and the cumulos were magnificent. Your comments are welcome.

Lighthouse Point - Oil on 9 x 12 Canvas Panel

NO LONGER AVAILABLE

Lighthouse Point - The morning mist or fog is in process of burning off, but still it obscures the clear view of the lighthouse. If you look closely you can see the sun has warmed up the image of the lighthouse. The surf keeps rolling in getting more intense in values as the waves get closer. I love the mood of this painting, but I've got to say thanks to Roy Lang (oil painter) from England whose book on painting the sea has benefited me greatly in painting scenes such as these. I emailed him the other day and sent him a (.jpg image) of one of my unpublished seascapes. He was kind enough to email me back and offer me some good advice on painting the sea. Thanks Roy. I took the idea of this lighthouse from a photo I took years ago, I'm not sure where it was, and combined it with waves and a shoreline similar to one in Roy's book. It really made a nice combination. Your comments are welcome.

Grain Silos in Moonlight - This painting is reminiscent of the years I lived in Kansas, USA. Many examples of these structures dotted the countryside and even within the city where I resided; Wichita. The silos appeared to be almost majestic in the moonlight. In our California urban areas they are now turning this structure type into upscale living areas; condos and apartments. Your comments are welcome.

The Blue Vase - Today I felt like working in blue tones, something I normally don't do too much of. It turned out OK. Your comments are welcome.

P51 Mustang in flight -16 x20 on stretched canvas

One quick look at the rest of my paintings will tell you that this one is a departure for me. I’ve ventured into unfamiliar, if not unfriendly, territory. I don’t have much experience with blues and I’ve never done an airplane before, although as a child I used to draw them a lot; I think that helped. This was exceptionally difficult as I attempted to picture the P51 with a polished metal exterior (no paint). I think it came out pretty well. Life gets dull without challenges and achievements. This was a real challenge. I would appreciate your comments PLEASE
