The Gondola - I guess by now you've noticed that I like to paint boats plus a little water. I, if you haven't, noticed that my technique or way I approach the canvas has changed of late, or I should say is changing with every new painting. I don't know how to or can't explain why, it just is. I'm not sure that I'm OK with the change, however I'm getting good results and feedback of late so I guess I'll just keep on letting it flow and see what happens. Your comments are welcome.

Old Abandoned Boat - Warm colors and deep shadows, add some reflections in the still water and you arrive at something like this. This is a departure for me, but a very interesting painting to do. The photographs do not do it justice; I don't know possibly these colors just don't photograph well. Your comments are welcome.

California Wild flowers - The coast range, the foot hills of the Sierra Nevada and the mountains to the north of the Las Angeles area in the springtime are laden with millions of small wild flowers. They populate the hillsides and sway with breezes that seem to lumber across the terrain. The ultimate result is a thick and smooth carpet effect of almost neon colors in constant flux. The colors change in intensity and shape as the reflected flowers change in direction with the wind. I've traveled extensively in the United States and most of Canada for many years and I don't recall ever seeing this phenomenon outside of California. It's too bad because it's stunning. Kansas Evening Rainstorm - After living in central Kansas for many years and now having been away for thirty five plus years I can still remember the colorful and vividly active rainstorms that pass very fast in front of color laden scenes. Fireside Pot Maker - In my mind I could see the flickering open fire reflecting color off the potters mud covered wet slicked hands as he / or she formed the pot from wet clay. The fire only provides minimum light, but still there is enough to produce vivid color and in turn strong emotion. I really like the way this one came out and plan another similar one in the future. Grain Silos in Moonlight - This painting is reminiscent of the years I lived in Kansas, USA. Many examples of these structures dotted the countryside and even within the city where I resided; Wichita. The silos appeared to be almost majestic in the moonlight. In our California urban areas they are now turning this structure type into upscale living areas; condos and apartments. Your comments are welcome.
