Poodle in Light - Rex was the poodle's name and his owner was an attorney and friend I knew some 35 years ago in Wichita, Kansas. I found an old picture of them both just yesterday. I think they both must be long gone by now. Rex seemed always vigilant, alert and never seemed to let his guard down. I thought that was unusual for a full sized poodle. Your comments are welcome.

Ed No. 2 - As I painted this very dog a couple of months ago and got such a positive response I decided to do a close up view. A mix of a full sized Poodle and a Scottish Deerhound Ed was smart and had a great personality. Your comments are welcomed.

Poodle in Shadows - We were having dinner a couple of months ago at one of Sacramento's mid town sidewalk cafes when up walked this Poodle, ungroomed, shaggy looking and I think abandoned. It was friendly, but you couldn't get too close to it. I've wanted to paint it ever since and now I did. Your comments are welcomed.

Ed – I was told Ed is a mix of a full sized Poodle and a Scottish Deerhound. I’ve never seen one like this before and was completely taken with him. Ed was well mannered, very friendly and absolutely beautiful. Your comments are welcomed.

English Sheepdog – It’s difficult to do white on white and photograph it properly. The English Sheepdog was an exercise in values and subtle shades. Every time I paint a white dog it’s a new learning experience for me. Your comments are welcomed.

CHAMPION PIPERS WILL POWER - Oil on 9 x 12 Canvas Panel

SOLD 6/18/2008

shipped 7/7/2008

CHAMPION PIPERS WILL POWER – or “Will” for short. Will is a champion Whippet and I’m sure he is the pride of his owners. The owner of the website featured Will on page http://www.angelfire.com/stars4/puppies1/p3.html and gave me permission to use any of the images available there. Will struck me as an extremely self-confident dog even at his age. You can check out Will or any of the other champion dogs at that website also. Your comments are welcome…..

Afghan Hound - Oil on 9 x 12 Canvas Panel

SOLD 4/16/2008

Afghan Hound – Not many people know that this dog originated from the cold mountains of Afghanistan, where it was used to hunt wolves, foxes, and gazelles. I guess that’s why they call them Afghans. Your comments are welcome.

Esther's Friend – I just love doing these small dogs. They have such expressive faces and great personalities, however white ones are hard to do. Just to show expression, dimension, perspective and depth within a white furry face requires a lot of subtle tone changes. I’ll wait for your comments to let me know if I’ve been successful in making her look alive and vibrant.

Missy – Missy was another past rescued dog that passed away a couple of years ago. After being used in a puppy mill she was rescued and was adopted by an owner that really cared. She would nip at you if you got too close, but I’m sure she did as well as she could considering her history. Your comments are welcome.

Golden Lab – Easter Sunday the weather was real nice here in Sacramento, CA USA. We took a drive with the top down and happened through a park in the older part of the city. It was loaded with people doing BBQs and playing games. At the roadside was a group of dogs with their owners. When we stopped, one of them, a Golden Lab laid its head on the door of the car and I took this shot along with some others. If you look careful you can see the reflections of her whiskers in the paint. Your comments are always welcome.

Toy Poodle – Another fun painting. I’m going to do another one in a larger format for an upcoming show also. I always wonder if the coat on these poodles looks right. The colors, this being a chocolate toy I think came out well, but I’d welcome your opinion. Your comments are welcome.
