Western Prairie Storm - Around 1962 and 1963 I traveled a sales territory in western and central Kansas. In the spring the weather was very changeable and sometimes I would see scenes like this. The rain clouds would hang close to the ground, move very fast and actually pick up dust along the way making them almost black in appearance. Sunshine would peek through the clouds and there would be areas of bright light in and around the squalls. I thought the scenes the sky painted were striking and I hope this painting strikes you in that same fashion. Your comments are welcome.

Lavender Vase and Flowers - This my 300th painting posted to the blog. They say, come to think of it who are "they" anyway, that you have to paint around 500 paintings to have mastered what you are doing. Grain Silos in Moonlight - This painting is reminiscent of the years I lived in Kansas, USA. Many examples of these structures dotted the countryside and even within the city where I resided; Wichita. The silos appeared to be almost majestic in the moonlight. In our California urban areas they are now turning this structure type into upscale living areas; condos and apartments. Your comments are welcome.

Copper Pot With Onions - Another copperware painting and in addition an exercise in perspective; there is a lot going on in this one. Wow, I had fun with this one. There is so much warmth in the tones of copper pots that I've found a new love to paint subject. Your comments are welcome.

Copper Pot with Oranges - The warmth of these two items is evident; however attempting to paint that warmth takes some work. Those of you who paint I'm sure can attest to that. This copper pot is part of a set and I no doubt will do some more copper pieces in the future, but for now this one came out very pleasing to me. Your comments are welcome..

Dancer in Red - I've wanted to paint something bold like this for some time. I just could not come up with the subject matter to fit what I wanted to do. This will do as a starter. First, it had to be in warm and red tones. I wanted high contrasts to catch the eye and emphasize the motion within. At first I thought "Tango", but I think I need to work on the initial sketches a while longer to prefect the base drawing. I went with a single figure just for the simplicity of it all.
