The Peekapoo – I spotted this dog yesterday evening in front of the local grocery store and the owner said it was a Peekapoo, a cross between a Pekingese and a Poodle. The dog’s coat almost resembled curly wool and was very thick. I’ve never seen one before and didn’t have my camera at the time so this painting is from memory. Trying to paint a curly wool look was not easy, but it taught me another painting skill so it was well worth the effort. The Peekapoo.

About Me

My photo
Russell Baker
Northern California, United States
As a student in northern Minnesota I enjoyed being an artist. My uncle Charles: C. X. Carlson, a noted author, artist and muralist was a great influence me. I sketched and painted everyday until age sixteen or so, then it seemed as though life took over. Since then I've lived in Kansas, Texas and presently in California. Now, 50+ years later and retired, I have returned to the more pleasurable pastimes of my youth. This year, 2007, I started drawing, painting and playing music once again. It will be interesting to see where these endeavors guide me and how my skills in turn develop over time. Everything I offer here is an original. Some may be renditions of other works I find interesting, however originals just the same. If you see something you would like to purchase, email me or use either the purchase link or the "BUY NOW" button that is with the painting you like. You can use either PayPal or credit card and its secure. No Paypal account necessary. Any questions, just email me.
