Assorted Bartletts - Oil on 9 x 12 Canvas Panel

NO LONGER AVAILABLE

Assorted Bartletts - After my morning coffee I decided to paint something today. While grabbing a little breakfast before starting I pulled a pear out of the fridge and I noticed I still had two more so I thought; what the heck; another pear painting. We'll call it "Assorted Bartletts". Your comments are welcome.

Pears in Light - I haven't been painting very much lately as I've been busy with other things. For some reason I always come back to still life and usually pears. I have a number of this type of painting that I haven't published as I thought some of them redundant, however this one is a little different and I really like it. It's warmer and brighter than some of the others I've done. Your comments are welcome.

Pot and Red Bartletts - A lot of you have noticed that I haven't posted anything since early June. In answer to all your inquiries, we've been on vacation in Alaska once again. We love going there as it is so relaxing. Now on to "Pot and Red Bartletts". I've had this one planned for a couple of months and finally got the time to paint it today. I hope you enjoy it. As usual it's for sale. Your comments are welcome.

Three Red Bartletts - More Pears. If anyone had told me a year ago that I would be painting pears today and really enjoying it I would have probably retired from painting and started working again. I couldn't have imagined it, but yet here I am today painting and posting pears. When I start one of these I can lose myself for hours at a time. When I'm finished I really feel relaxed and usually happy with outcome. I like the way this painting turned out, I guess it's the composition and warm tones combined. Your comments are welcome.

Backlit Pears - Another experimentation in lighting. The light here originates from the left and behind. I had to darken the background three times to arrive at a balance of values I was satisfied with. Your comments are welcome.

Three Pears - Oil on 9 x 12 Canvas Panel

No longer available 5/21/2009

Three Pears - Earlier this month (May 3rd) I painted "Pair of Pears" and really liked the way it finished out. Since then I've heard from an old friend whom I've known since grade school, about 57 to 58 years ago at a place called Warba, MN. population somewhere around 300. During those years I lived on a farm outside of an even smaller community named Blackberry, MN. When we moved on to our Jr. High years in Grandrapids, MN; population around six to seven thousand at that time, it was like being in a metropolis. Now, getting to the point, my childhood friend loved "Pair of Pears" and after thinking it over I decided to paint something similar to that painting. There are some subtle differences in the two however; the most noticeable of which is the dominant color in this one is green, much cooler than the reddish umber mixture I used on 'Pair of Pears. If you compare the two paintings you will see it. I also liked the way this one came out. Your comments are welcome.

Coffee Pot and Pears - I wondered how cool toned objects; coffee pot and cup would look among warm tones that make up the balance of the painting. I initially thought this combination could be disastrous, but tried it anyway because I was curious. I discovered this group works very well and the warm and cool tones complement each other well. A Pair of Pears - Oil on 9 x 12 Canvas Panel

NO LONGER AVAILABLE

A Pair of Pears - I see a lot of pear paintings on the net and like most of them. Personally I prefer them to appear soothing, subtle and yet magnetic to the eyes. I don't know if I have achieved that here; however I like it as it is. Your comments are welcome.
