Crappie Fishing - I painted this one from a childhood memory. We lived in Minnesota and often went to a nearby lake to fish for Crappie, a fish native to that area. The whole family would take food, drinks and we would make a day of it. That lake was shallow, large and the wind would blow across it creating waves and whitecaps. At that time there was no limit on the number of Crappie you could take so we would just keep fishing until our container was full. At the end of the day we would come home with a washtub full of fish; then came the work of cleaning them. Of course after that we would invite some neighbors and have a fish fry; wonderful memories. My Vacation - There is a place in the Virgin Islands, actually it’s a national park. The water is luminous and aqua in color. It rolls up on almost white sandy beaches. There is nothing like it, or at least I've never seen anything else like it. Your comments are welcome.

Sea Squall Approaching - I haven't done a seascape in a long time and frankly was a little reluctant to try one again just for that reason. I can imagine the waves increasing in size and picking up the sand from below and then crashing into the shore laden rock formations. I don't normally publish my larger canvases, or at least haven't in a long time, but I thought this one should be posted as I really like it. Your comments are welcome.

The Ninnescah Sand bar - On April 4th I painted "The Ninnescah River" and reminisced about the great memories created there years ago. I couldn't locate my picture of the sand bar I wrote about so painted this from memory. I hope you like it and for those of you who live near there I hope this resembles it; of course it may have changed in forty five or so years. Your comments are welcome.

The Ninnescah River - Oil on 9 x 12 Canvas Panel

NO LONGER AVAILABLE
12/02/2010

The Ninnescah River - Located in central Kansas it flows near Wichita, at least the part of it I was familiar with. In my early 20s a group of us used this area for recreation and "Parties". Just downstream from the area depicted within this painting was a large sand bar that was exposed when water levels were low. In those days in central Kansas this was the closest thing you could find to a sandy beach. It was four to five hundred feet long and more than a hundred feet wide in places. It was a great place to hold a kegger or just sun bathe and get wet. My friend Terry (T-bone Terry)

(web site - http://www.tbonesbbq.com/ )

would visit from South Carolina, we would grab some people, some food, some beer and the party or bar-b-q was on. No one ever got drunk or in any trouble, but we had lots of what are now called "Great memories". Your comments are welcome.
