The Nude Torso The human anatomy is an interesting study, no two are the same and with the skillful application of light source you can achieve many different looks from the same subject. This one is done with one color, Raw Sienna plus black and white.

Model No. 1 - This is another first for me, as it’s my first face in natural tones. The construction is similar to black and white, but as expected, more complicated. I sat back with a cup of coffee and looked several times, and then made some changes (many), finally I’m happy with it.

Each painting is a new learning experience and this one was particularly forthcoming with new challenges to overcome. Never having painted a face, I tried this it early this morning. I used a canvas board with a previously ruined landscape as I figured it couldn’t get any worse. I want the viewer to see the emotion in her face; I hope it’s noticeable. I was surprised at how it turned out. Girl in Shadow

I posted this last month for about a day and was not satisfied so I reworked it and re-posted it today.

I always called it “The Dead Tree Lake”. I don’t remember it’s real name. I fished it that day with my parents, my uncle Vick and aunt Delia. That was more than 48 years ago in northern Minnesota. I remember it had a very silent and final look with radiation fog across the surface. I remember the northern pike were biting that day. The Dead Tree Lake.

If you viewed this post earlier and it looked different, you're correct. I found another photo that had colors that were truer to the painting, so I re-posted it.

I loved the colors of this flower. The Pink Princess Water Lily was a one sitting painting, something new for me again. It took longer than expected to complete, as working wet on wet can be troublesome.

I’ve never seen one of these in person, however I’ve found several pictures that were stunning. I’ve also tried to put some morning dewdrops on it just to see if I could do it. Every time I do a new painting I find myself stretching for new skills. What a great learning experience.
