Hirshorn Museum Fountain - Some months ago I was asked to consider doing some architectural renderings and I filed that suggestion in the things to do in the near future file. You see, 45 or so years ago I had done a done a number of buildings all the way up from conceptualizing, working drawings (blue prints) and renderings in the Wichita, KS area. Some of those buildings still are standing today. (Makes me feel old to say that). I tried this painting today and immediately discovered that oils are not the right media for this type of subject matter and also they should be done in a larger format. This painting is an 8 x 10, way too small. My choice would be waters colors and at least 24 x 30. So, I probably will not do another one like this in oils. This Christmas a good set of water color tubes and good papers are on my list. Even though I did not, in my opinion, have the correct materials to do this type of painting I like the way it came out. Your comments are welcome.
