Minnesota Winter #1 - Watercolor on 9 x 12 140lb paper

Minnesota Winter #1 - I wanted to start the new year off with something new for me and those of you who follow my blog will notice an abrupt change in what I have done with this painting. First, this is the first watercolor I've done in approximately 53 years. Just learning to manage the values is a new experience as I've used the tube waters and not the old tubs I had as a child. The present day papers are much better at holding their shape than a half century ago. The only thing that remains the same is the subject matter and the planning of white space. Expect to see more watercolors in the future along with my normal oils. This one is not for sale. Your comments are welcome.

Those are some classic artwork, Russ. You made me recollect my two season stay at Minnesota... what a beautiful place to live. :)
